World BBoy Classic was established in 2009 by the Rotterdam based organisation office 45 Live. Besides the events The Notorious IBE and Dutch BBoy Championships 45 Live felt the need to create an innovative, strong and unique BBoy event concept and put Rotterdam back on the map of the international Hip Hop dance scene.
In 2009 Rotterdam was European’s Youth Capitol. This special occasion led to a partnership with the Street Science Hip Hop festival being organised in the same weekend. The first World BBoy Classic title was won by Menno (hol) and Differ (kor). Since 2009 every year in July, Street Science and World BBoy Classic have been organising a full festival weekend presenting all aspects of Hip Hop culture and inviting a great number of international Hip Hop icons and artists.
In 2010 World BBoy Classic moved to De Nieuwe Oogst, Rotterdam’s first Urban Youth Culture venue. The second of edition of World BBoy Classic was a great success in a nearly sold out venue USA dancers Thesis and Keebz were crowned the 2010 World BBoy Classic champions.
